Where to put drinks on a picnic blanket

Keep each drink within reach of its person, away from the shared food and supported by a level, firm spot.

Arrange the people before the drinks

Sit in the position you will actually use. Set your drink beside your knee or hip where you can reach it without crossing the food or another person. Keep the middle available for serving and avoid the edge everyone steps across.

Look beneath the blanket

A blanket follows the ground beneath it. Smooth folds and check for roots, hollows or loose material. If the holder leans, rocks or sinks, move to a suitable spot. Steadi does not make a hillside level or convert soft ground into a firm surface.

Leave space around the holder

Support the complete 5.2-inch footprint and leave space for your hand. Do not trap it against a basket, put it under a shifting cooler lid or balance part of the base on a cutting board. Keep drinks separate from the food preparation area.

Plan for people getting up

Pick up nearby drinks before shaking crumbs from the blanket, moving cushions or rearranging the spread. Show children where drinks are sitting without claiming a holder is childproof. A foot or pulled blanket can still move a drink.

Change the setup when the surface is wrong

A stable tray or table may provide a better place, but it needs level support too. If no suitable area exists, keep the drink in hand between sips or use an appropriate attached holder. Do not balance it on your picnic bag.
